About Aflabox
Tools for checking grain quality where the grain is, not only where the laboratory is.
Why we started
Grain gets bought and sold at farm gates, collection points and warehouses, and decisions about it are made there too, usually long before a sample reaches a laboratory, if it ever does. Mould and the toxins some moulds produce, aflatoxin among them, are a real food safety problem in maize and other grains, and they are hard to see.
Aflabox started from a simple question: what if the people handling the grain had a consistent way to look at it, kernel by kernel, right where they stand? The box is our answer so far. The dashboard is how a whole organisation sees what its boxes find.
We are a small team and the product is young. This site describes what the box does today.
