Short versions of the guides on the box and in the dashboard.
Set up your account and workspace
Open the dashboard and choose Create a workspace, or Sign in if you already have an account.
Enter your email, then your name, a password and your phone number. Marketing emails are optional.
Enter the newest six-digit code from the verification email. It expires after ten minutes, so check Spam if it hasn't arrived.
Create a workspace for your organisation, or ask an existing workspace admin to invite you. Choose the country carefully: it can't be changed later.
Register a box to your workspace
Sign in to the right workspace and open Boxes. Workspace admins and managers can register a box.
Choose Register box and type the six-digit code shown on the box's screen.
Check the box appears in the list, then open it to confirm the serial and firmware match the box in front of you.
Run a test
Spread the grain in one flat layer in the drawer. Don't pile it up.
Slide the drawer fully shut and tap Start Test. Answer your workspace's questions if it has any, or skip them.
Keep the box still and the drawer closed until the result appears.
Read the result on screen. It also goes to the dashboard with its pictures.
If the drawer check fails
Push the drawer fully home and choose Test Again. Never try to bypass the check.
If it still fails with the drawer shut, empty the drawer and run Settings, Calibration & Hardware, Empty drawer, with the drawer empty and closed.
Put the sample back and retry once calibration passes. If it keeps failing, contact support.
Invite your team
In the dashboard, open Teams & Users and choose Invite user.
Enter their email, pick a role (Operator is the field-testing role) and, if you like, a team.
They follow the link in the invitation email and sign in or create an account with that same address.
Power, Wi-Fi and a frozen screen
To switch off, hold the side button about 3 seconds, until it beeps, then let go. Or use Shutdown at the bottom of Settings.
Pick a Wi-Fi network in Settings. The box still tests without Wi-Fi and uploads later.
If the screen stops answering, tap the button 3 times, slowly. The box beeps and opens its own Wi-Fi network, Aflabox-Setup. Join it from your phone; the password is on the box.
Updates
Open Settings and scroll to Software Update, under Maintenance.
Firmware and operating system have separate tabs. Check again refreshes what's available.
Keep the box powered while an update installs. It restarts by itself.
Looking after the box
Keep the drawer and the glass clean and dry. A soft, dry brush is enough.
No liquid in the drawer, and don't touch the lamps or the lens with anything.
